💉We are currently administering the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccination. All patients aged over 60 are eligible for this vaccine. We are also able to administer the vaccine to people under 60 if it is their preference. We will take some extra time to discuss the risks and benefits with you.

⏰When should you get your second dose of AstraZeneca? Recent studies show the later the better. If you can delay your booster to 12 weeks after your first done you will have the best chance of effective protection.

☎️We are currently experiencing high demand for appointments as some of our GPs have taken school holiday leave. Until we have caught up on giving dose 2 of the AstraZeneca vaccine we unfortunately do not have the capacity to administer the Pfizer vaccine. We will review this in the coming months as more general practices are brought online for Pfizer. All COVID vaccination appointments are free.

📲If you have visited our practices in Huonville and Cygnet recently you will have noticed you are asked to check in via the Tasmanian Government’s Check-In TAS app. We do ask if you do not have the app to record your name and phone number. From 31 July, it will be mandatory to record visitors to all practices. This makes contact tracing faster and more reliable in the case of an outbreak.

✈️We are also frequently asked why we ask our travel and symptom screening questions of people arriving at our practices. This is to keep our staff and patients safe. Just today, a visitor to our practice was not aware that there had been exposure sites in the Huon Valley recently. We will continue to screen all visitors with questions regarding travel and exposure, and temperature.
